Blake Lively Vs. Justin Baldoni: I highlighted + annotated the 70-page lawsuit (no paywall)
In case any of you want to read the lawsuit for yourself before Monday's episode of the "Ahead of the Curve" podcast on Monday.
Watch the video breakdown of the lawsuit filing here:
I am someone who preaches media literacy and seeing everyone as multi-dimensional and humane online. But even I fell for the storylines that were fed to the public during the release of the “It Ends With Us” movie earlier this year.
While I did not publicly go after Blake Lively, I did privately allow my opinions of her to change drastically after reading stories about her and Justin Baldoni’s feud on set.
When I saw the news this weekend that Blake Lively was suing Justin Baldoni and his production company, I thought it was just an attempt to rehab her image. Until I read the entire NYT article and the 70-page lawsuit.
I am NOT a lawyer and this is all based on my own opinion. I encourage everyone to do their own research and come to their own conclusions, always.
I believe multiple things can exist at once. Someone can be snarky and mean but they can also be the victim of an unfair, hateful campaign against them as punishment for speaking up about an unsafe work environment.
If you are someone who does not believe Blake Lively was the victim of a smear campaign, I encourage you to read the full lawsuit and see if your mind changes. The evidence against Baldoni and his team is damning.
I will be doing a deep dive into this lawsuit and smear campaign on Monday’s episode of the “Ahead of the Curve with Coco Mocoe” podcast.
But here is a copy of my annotated version of the lawsuit, paywall free, for you to come to your own conclusions and judgements.

The rest of the lawsuit is about scheduling around the filming of the movie.
I hope everyone can read it and come to their own conclusions. Don’t even take my word for it. This is nuanced and layered.
It is not about right vs wrong but rather about what is unfair and unprovoked.
Tune into the “Ahead of the Curve” podcast on Monday to hear my full break down episode.

Thank you for the thoroughness with which you went through this. It’s alarming how well this worked. I, too, didn’t really care about or participate in the backlash against Blake Lively, but I believed that it was organic and founded.
This is insane. They completely had me fooled with the smear campaign. I think reddit tends to be more skeptical as a network so seeing people jump on the smear campaign there really had me fooled.
A good lesson to take everything with a grain of salt and I hope Blake gets the justice she deserves. It definitely looks like the working environment was not great at the very least.
